The ancient capital of the Inkas, called Qosqo (navel of the world) in the Quechua language, possesses beautiful architecture such as the Qoricancha or Great Inka Temple of Sun Worship; the Cathedral of Cusco which is home to paintings of great significance belonging to the Cusco School; and Saqsayhuaman, a superb Inka temple and fortress. Moreover, Cusco’s outlying areas boast ruins such as Qenqo, Pukapukara and Tambomachay. During this tour, you will become acquainted with the famous Sacred Valley of the Inkas where you will be able to stroll through and make purchases in the Pisac Market. In the afternoon you will visit the magnificent Fortress of Ollantaytambo, which for some serious scholars is even more impressive than Machu Picchu. After a journey by train to Aguas Calientes, you will visit the most important archaeological center of South America, Machu Picchu; you will walk down its streets, become acquainted with its temples, and enjoy its imposing setting. The next day you will enjoy a morning at leisure, if you wish, to return to explore the Inka City on your own.

 

ITINERARY

Day 01 CUSCO

Welcome to the Inka capital, On arrival, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to acclimatize. High in the Andes at nearly 11,400 feet above sea level, Cusco is considered the oldest continuously inhabited city in all the Americas. Founded in the 15th century by the Incas, it was later conquered by Spain and much of its architecture reflects the dramatic Spanish style of what is known as Cusco Baroque.

Day 02 CUSCO

Today early in the morning we will visit the highlights of the city, among them the Inka temple of the Sun known as Qoricancha, The Cathedral of Cusco famous for its Andean baroque architecture and Art, The majestic Sacsayhuaman, Inka temple where you will appreciate colossal blocks which may weight as much as 120 tons. Nearby we will also see Qenko and Pukapukara.

Day 03 SACRED VALLEY

We leave Cusco towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, along the way we can enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape and its snow capped mountains aligned along the valley, our first stop will be at Pisac the Market, lunch at a local restaurant at Urubamba city, on the afternoon we visit the temple – fortress of Ollantaytambo, well know on the local history as the place where the Spanish were defeated for the first time by the Inkas led by Manko Inka.  
Overnight at the Sacred Valley of the Inkas.

Day 04 MACHU PICCHU

Finally your dream comes true, today we head to one of the New seven Wonders of the World Machu Picchu. Once we get the train station at Aguas Calientes we take a  local tourist bus for a 25 minutes drive. The tour will take you to see the temple of the Sun, the farming area, the temple of the Condor among other important sections of the Inka city.     
Overnight at Aguas Calientes.

Day 05 MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Today if you desire you can visit Machu Picchu on your own, if so we highly recommend you to take one a walk to the Intipunku or Sun’s gate or perhaps to the Inka bridge. By the afternoon you will transferred to Ollantaytambo train station and then board a coach to  drive back to Cusco.
