On the XV century the inka`s  road network become the most extent from all the continent, it got a total of about 35 000 thousand miles or 50 000 km. and of their most important destinies was Machu Picchu, join us and we will take to know one of the most beautiful and pretty well built inka trails. You will get to know the most relevant places for peregrination along the trail that takes us to Machu Picchu. Moreover you will have to pleasure to see the local flora and fauna throughout the different geographical environments by which these roads were built.

 

ITINERARY

Day 01 CUSCO

Welcome to the Inka capital, On arrival, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to acclimatize. High in the Andes at nearly 11,400 feet above sea level, Cusco is considered the oldest continuously inhabited city in all the Americas. Founded in the 15th century by the Incas, it was later conquered by Spain and much of its architecture reflects the dramatic Spanish style of what is known as Cusco Baroque.
                                                                                             
Day 02 CUSCO

Today early in the morning we will show you Cusco the highlights of the city starting by the temple of the Sun known as Qoricancha, then we visit the Cathedral of Cusco. But we will also show you the actual way of living of the local people, and what a better place for that than a market, the San Pedro Market. Finally we drive to the upper part of the city to observe the majestic Sacsayhuaman, Inka temple where you will appreciate colossal blocks which may weight as much as 120 tons. Nearby we also have Qenko. We finish the morning having an splendid lunch on a local cusqueño home.

Day 03 INKA TRAIL
Cusco – Huayllabamba
 
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco for the transfer to the train station, the train will take you up to the km 88 where you will meet our porters and camping staff. As our porters load the heavy gear, we head off down river alongside the rushing Vilcanota River, through pretty cactus gardens with magnificent views of the Wakay-wilca glacier.

Day 04 INKA TRAIL
Huayllabamba - Pacasmayo 

After breakfast, we continue up through the sub-tropical jungle know also as cloud forest, ascending steadily to the head of a valley below the high pass of Warmiwañusca. If the weather is clear we will get spectacular views of the Huayanay snow peaks as we climb steadily over the pass and down to tree line in the Pacasmayo Valley.

Día 05 INKA TRAIL
Pacasmayo - Wiñaywayna 

Today, a steady one to two hours climb takes us over the second pass where we pick up our first real signs of paved Inca road, climbing an impressive

carved stairway to the minor ruins of Runturacay. Continuing up this Inca stairway we cross the pass and drop down to the major and spectacular ruins of Sayacmarca for lunch. Your guide will explain some of the mysteries of Incan architecture and Inca life and we will continue along an exquisite paved Inca road, passing through moss and orchid forest, on our way we will pass by an inka site known as Phuyupatamarca, from here the trail descends through some of the finest, intact paved Inca road known. Passing through moss and orchid laden mature cloud forest down a steep Inca stairway to Winay-wayna. This site was only discovered in the 1940's and rivals Machu Picchu in splendor and here is going to be your last camping site.

Día 06 INKA TRAIL
Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu

From here it is 2 hours through tree-fern cloud forest to Intipunku, the sun gate, where we get our first and awe-inspiring view of the citadel of Machu Picchu. We will linger here and then wander through Machu Picchu. After the tour you will have free time to wander around, and then you will meet with the rest of the group to drive by bus down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, transfer by train to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco transfer to your hotel.

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima.
